The Ravena Rescue Squad Inc. is a non-profit Ambulance Service whose Mission is to provide Basic and Advanced Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Transport to the citizens of The Town of Coeymans, Town of New Baltimore, and Village of Ravena. Our goal is to provide the highest quality pre-hospital care possible for all citizens in our area of operation.

Our service area spans over 70 square miles along the western shore of the Hudson River in southern Albany and northern Greene County. We provide primary 911 coverage throughout this region and mutual aid to surrounding EMS agencies when requested.

1960
Members of the Ravena Hose Company No.1 establish the Ravena Rescue Squad, laying the foundation for emergency medical services in the community.
1961
Operations begin with a used Cadillac Ambulance purchased from the Catskill Fire Department for $1,500. The squad answers 165 calls in its first year.
1962
A brand new Cadillac ambulance is acquired at a cost of $9,815, marking the squad's first major equipment investment.
1974
The squad upgrades to an S&S Cadillac ambulance, continuing its commitment to modern emergency response vehicles.
1976
The first modular ambulance is purchased at a cost of $25,300 - a major step forward in patient care capabilities.
1997
The Ravena Rescue Squad officially incorporates as an independent organization, separating from the hose company.
2005
Paid EMT positions are introduced to address declining volunteer membership and ensure reliable coverage for the community.
2011
The squad transitions to a fully career agency, professionalizing operations to meet growing community demand.
2015
Advanced EMT training programs are implemented, expanding the level of care available to patients in the field.
2023
The squad enrolls in the BLS I-GEL Advanced Airway pilot program and BLS EKG program, staying at the forefront of pre-hospital care.

Learn to recognize and control life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets and wound packing techniques.

SAFESITTER ESSENTIALS

A comprehensive babysitter training course covering safety, child care basics, first aid, and rescue skills for young caregivers.

NON-EMERGENCY EVENT STANDBY

Planning a community event, sporting tournament, or large gathering? The Ravena Rescue Squad offers non-emergency standby coverage with an ambulance and crew on-site. Pricing is determined by agreement based on the event's size, duration, and location.

JOIN OUR TEAM

The Ravena Rescue Squad is an Advanced EMT level agency and we continuously accept applications from New York State Basic and Advanced providers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid New York State Emergency Medical Technician certification - Basic or Advanced
  • Current BLS CPR certification from the American Heart Association, or equivalent organization
  • Valid NYS Driver's License - applicants must be at least 21 years of age to operate ambulances
  • Compliance with requirements set forth by NYS Dept. of Health in the Functional Position Description

The Ravena Rescue Squad handles all information requests by mail after confirming the requestor's identity. We are committed to protecting the security of personal health information.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Patients may obtain records in person with a valid photo ID, or by mail with a notarized request
  • Juvenile patient records requested by parents require a birth certificate or custody documentation
  • Legal requests from law enforcement and attorneys require an official OCA Form No. 960 signed by the patient
  • Power of Attorney and legal representative requests require appropriate documentation such as subpoena, power of attorney, or medical release forms
  • Please include your contact information in case additional details are needed
